Book Space Archive
An audio exploration of Black literary spaces across the U.S.
“Whether it is the specific materials, people, greetings or conversations, there is a unique experience preserved within these institutions. These are the intimate spaces that nurture us, energize us and reenforce a consciousness necessary to engage with the outside world critically.
Not quite a podcast or an interview series, this project is a representation of the energy that exists within Black literary spaces. Created through a collaging process, each installment feels more like a conversation that the listener is a part of, as if they themselves were in the space. The conversations touch on a range of themes including institutional power, black community struggles, gentrification, and so much more but there is also something special to the ambience of the spaces and how they represent Blackness. So please listen carefully.”
